We’re a family of four building our homestead From the Roots Up in southeastern Oklahoma. Our crew includes Lance (dad, preacher, and chief goat-wrangler), Kristy (mom, former musician turned homeschooling extraordinaire), Taylor (15, aspiring marine biologist and family photographer), and Makayla (12, chicken whisperer and bundle of creative energy). Together, we’re on a mission to live simply, love deeply, and grow stronger as a family.

Our homesteading journey is all about finding joy in the little things—like the smell of fresh garden dirt, the satisfying “pop” of a canning jar sealing, or a perfectly baked loaf of homemade bread. We’re sharing it all with you: raising goats, chickens, and puppies, tackling DIY farm projects, cooking hearty meals, and keeping our garden thriving (even in Oklahoma’s unpredictable weather).

When we’re not busy with homestead life, you’ll probably find us huddled around a board game, debating superhero trivia, or geeking out over the latest sci-fi movie. We’re big fans of geek culture and think family game nights are the ultimate recipe for laughter and memories.

We started From the Roots Up to document our journey and share what we’ve learned along the way—mistakes, triumphs, and everything in between.
